Re-Marketing

Re-marketing is the process by which companies use information that has already been sold by a previous buyer of a product or service. For example, a particular ad may have been seen, and a user may have clicked on the link, thus causing that advertiser to purchase that ad. Alternatively, the user could have been enticed to buy something by seeing a related ad and may have done so without actually clicking on the link. The advertiser will then re-market that item in an attempt to get the same kind of response from that particular person as they would from a person who had not previously seen the ad.

Behavioural retargeting, sometimes called targeted retargeting, is a type of online marketing by which internet marketing is targeted towards potential customers based on what they had done before. This technique targets people who have already done something with regard to online shopping, or who have visited sites like eBay or Amazon. The advertisers may also be interested in people who had visited particular sites while searching for the product they are trying to sell. Re-marketing tags visitors using a particular keyword in their search engine results. When a user enters a specific phrase into the search field, if that phrase contains the keywords that the advertisers want to target, the website containing that specific information will be displayed on the screen. Users who click on these links are automatically directed to the advertisers’ website where they can see the offer that they can purchase.

In order for this marketing technique to be effective, there must be a site where the advertisers can advertise their product and that the company’s website is visible to every visitor. A company will also have to develop an email list. The emails should be sent out to all of these people regularly, even though they will have been shown the advertisement on another site. This allows the advertiser to see how many of those individuals clicked through, or who visited their site and were not necessarily interested in buying the advertised product.
